Simply put: The relocation industry is rife with conflicts of interest, which cost clients millions of dollars every year—and it’s only getting worse.

We are here because our industry needs a better business model that ethically and effectively prevents bad actors from operating in unethical ways. TW Solutions was founded by a supply-chain whistle-blower and a technology wizard (really though, he has a Ph.D. in Cognitive Science). Together, they witnessed first-hand the long- and short-term destructive impacts of bad business models, bad data, and unethical relationships. As the industry struggles to solve capacity and labor challenges, you are at the mercy of the brokers, auditors, and re-sellers of moving services who are responsible for the imbalances that the market is currently experiencing.

We’ve seen blatant fraud, criminalized workers, and predatory contracts. We’ve seen moving companies post some of the best earnings in a decade (something they openly tout), all while claiming the need for higher prices to their clients to cover rising relocation costs. The problem is, none of that money is trickling down to the van operators, whose costs really have risen, but whose wages have not. In fact, the average van operator only makes about $48k per year (the same as it was in 1984). No wonder the industry bemoans a “driver shortage” when justifying their rising costs.

This is not sustainable.

We know (and can prove) that everything above is true. We took the time and did the research to really understand the problem areas in the relocation industry. We did this by going to the clients, RMCs, auditors, van lines, moving companies, and most importantly—the van operators. We analyzed transactions, scrutinized the data, and went directly to the actual men and women at the foundation of the supply chain. We wanted to really know the problems so that our products and services could affect real and lasting change.

And we’re not alone here. In doing our research, we gathered a list of industry representatives who not only corroborate our findings, but who also endorse our solutions.

In doing our research, we discovered that the MOST IMPORTANT factor in determining the accuracy of a move is the survey, because it not only dictates the cost expectations, but it also sets up the mover on the day of the move for either success or failure. In fact, we’ve discovered inaccurate surveys that have lead to moves being overcharged by as much as 40% above the standard moving cost.

But why is this the case? Well, to start, ask yourself this question:

When buying a home, would you trust a home appraisal from the selling agent?

Of course not.

Then why would you trust a household goods survey from the same people who are moving your stuff?

Just like with a home appraisal, only an independent and fully-certified surveyor, one with zero vested interest in moving your stuff, should be acceptable.
